sometimes you write and it’s just very obviously you’re kinda giddy about what you just saw. who knows what the DIIV LP will wind up sounding like, but the new songs they played last night (I counted 6) showed a rly interesting new direction for the new band, that I was hoping they’d go in all along…
Julie and Jean-Francois stopped by the Billboard office and I interviewed them about the new album they have in the works:
hey loook it’s a picture of when the dolphins were actually good. sometimes this is all i have to keep me going rly
on the internet this week: majical cloudz & fka twigs appeared beneath a giant hollister ad. #thisismagic
I interviewed the honorable Geoff Rickly about his brand new band. The stuff his followers know him for — Thursday & recently, United Nations — is very rough and visceral, so I’m interested in how they’ll take to a more hook, beat-oriented band like this. They say it’s very New Order, “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” Cure influenced and that’s dead on, maybe with some Psychedelic Furs in there. Also it’s with the remaining Lostprophets dudes who were forced to scrap their entire music careers when the terrible shit with their singer came out.
