a couple weeks back. as soon as i published these, i searched twitter for “Arcade Fire “Funeral” and the amount of other people on the internet who also “reflected on its greatness” was alarming. I was all like, “WHAT DOES MY LIFE EVEN MEAN?” But I was the only one I know of to speak with the artist behind the cover (and also that mural that popped up in Brooklyn!) so that made me feel better.

I wrote a track-by-track review for Billboard.com… listening to this extensively for the first time since high school really, I realized how much this is an album about growing up, accepting life’s shortcomings, and moving on. Also “Wake Me Up When September Ends” really doesn’t fit the flow of the story/album.
